Problem:

A major steel manufacturing facility faced a Year 2000 concern - the loss of power to their facility. Such a loss would not allow pump equipment to run, which could be catastrophic.

Solution:

Detroit Pump worked with many suppliers and finally located a solution for the problem facing our customer. With just two weeks left in 1999, Detroit Pump delivered four 15,000 GPM capacity diesel driven pump packages. These were truck mounted units that had to be driven non-stop from Texas to Michigan in two days. With the coordination from Detroit Pump, the customer and local contractors, the pumps were installed into the main header system within one week. This emergency system allowed the customer to continue to do what they did best - produce high quality USA steel without an unscheduled outage!
