Success Stories - Automotive
Problem:
A new automotive engine plant for a Big Three manufacturer
needed multiple engine test stands to "hot test"
each engine prior to shipment to the assembly plant.
Solution:
Detroit Pump worked with a local contractor who had been
awarded the "Design/Build" contract for the automotive
company. Detroit Pump engineered and fabricated a stand
alone, engine coolant skid package. The closed loop package
supplied a temperature regulated (heated & cooled) 50/50
glycol & water solution to the engine stands at a controlled
flow and temperature. The concentration of the water and
rust inhibitor were added automatically as needed to ensure
a quality solution for the auto maker. The entire assembly
was pre-fabricated, pre-piped, and pre-wired for an easy
installation and quick start-up to meet the customer's aggressive
schedule.
The equipment we designed allowed the contractor to satisfy
the contract and the auto makers strict specifications.
A win-win for all three parties.
Problem:
DaimlerChrysler needed a turnkey sole source pump provider
for their newest assembly plant.
Solution:
One of the advantages of doing business with Detroit Pump
is the broad range of products that we represent. This diverse
product offering allows us to pick the manufacturers that
focus on that particular type of application giving the
customer the best product for their job.
DaimlerChrysler was building a grass roots assembly plant
and called on Detroit Pump to bid numerous portions of the
overall project. Working closely with DaimlerChrysler engineers
and purchasing managers, our sales and engineering staffs
were able to show the customer considerable time, project
management, and capital cost savings by working exclusively
with Detroit Pump. Detroit Pump took the responsibility
for project coordination for delivery, installation, start-up
and training.
The result of this level of cooperation led to an order
for all the utility pumps in the Energy Center, all the
pumps in the Waste Treatment Facility, all the waste water
lift stations throughout the complex, the city water booster
station, paint circulation equipment, and miscellaneous
process water pumps.
The order totaled over one million dollars and combined
products from five different manufacturers. Detroit Pump
handled all aspects of the job through to completion and
training.
